Tartu, a UNESCO City of Literature and European Capital of Culture 2024, is the oldest town in the Baltics, known for its strong-rooted literature, theatre and music traditions, groundbreaking University and use of smart city solutions.
Tartu’s headline as a European Capital of Culture is “Arts of Survival”. Together with 19 municipalities of Southern Estonia, we are going to address a number of burning topics. Be it the effect of human activity on the climate crisis, social inequality, mental health problems or the sustainability of small towns and rural areas – our shaping programme aims to create possibilities for positive changes and show the way for Europe.
